How to win in the current economy this is not 2012
When I first started my Homecare Agency back in 2012 it was a different market. Caregivers where easy to hire and to keep. You would print flyers, go out and tell people your open and boom your phone is ringing. But now with inflation and the way the economy is moving it is not the same. What does this mean for Homecare owners or any type of business owner? This means that we have to do things different.
You can't just get a business license and say hey I'm open in 2024. Building a brand online presence along with having the time and money to market yourself is essential. Really slowing down and understanding what worked in your business in 2023. If nothing worked in your business in 2023 than it's time to write a whole new plan.
I always hear the complaint of needing new client and caregivers. But if you don't change your methods you will get the same results. One actionable step I will leave with you today is to find a power partner. For Homecare a power partner looks like a hospice company, adult day center, rehab centers.
A power partner is someone who is not your direct competitor but they may service the same customer as you. I get referrals and calls from these companies and we cross refer to each other. But you don't just go up to people randomly and ask for clients, you first have to figure out how you add value.
My favorite way to build a relationship is to volunteer or offer help to someone. Being super intentional about connecting and maintaining relationships. Remembering someone's birthday or anniversary can go along way. Don't discount the details.
Here is a book recommendation that I suggest you read to learn the art of connecting.
